Vein Disease
Spider & Varicose Veins
Normal veins contain many valves (one-way doors) along the length of the vein. A valve prevents blood from leaking towards the feet. Vein disease develops when the valves stop working properly and become leaky, this results in blood flowing backwards and pooling in the lower leg veins. With the backward flow of blood, the veins can swell and bulge, resulting in formation of new spider and varicose vein.
Most people think of varicose veins as just a cosmetic issue, but when left untreated, they can progress into a more serious condition called chronic venous insufficiency.

Treatment of Vein Disease
Minimally-invasive Treatment of Vein Disease
Our goal is to reduce or stop backward flow of blood. With proper treatment, the progressive symptoms of vein disease can be reversed. If vein disease is not properly treated, the symptoms may progress and significantly impact the quality of life, ultimately leading to venous ulcers.
We usually start with conservative treatment that includes compression stockings. If conservative treatment does not work, we proceed with our state of the art minimally invasive treatment for vein closure. Our treatment does not require a long or uncomfortable recovery. Our patients are often back to work the same day.
